When I first stumbled upon Nigel Blacker's photography website I was mesmorised by one rather odd, but amusing, wedding photograph. Recently, I have been browsing at an array of wedding photos online, and have seen some rather bizarre photographic settings that newly weds choose to exhibit themselves in. There have been brides on hay stacks and newly weds artistically standing against some east London, grungy hangout. The photograph, by Nigel Blacker, in question made me giggle on two accounts. Firstly, the Bride and Groom are whimsically holding a large umbrella in the foreground, blissfully ignorant to the best man leaping, Mary Poppins style, in the background. Secondly, the wedding photograph highlighted the true British spirit of carrying on regardless, whatever the weather. Nigel Blacker and this clever couple have managed to turn hard luck with the weather into a comical and truly memorable wedding photograph. So, with artistic eyes and dreams of the perfect wedding photograph at the ready, I am thrilled to share some of Nigel's work with you.
Nigel Blacker describes his photographic niche as:
"An eclectic mix of Contemporary Fashion Informality & the most unusual"
For the fashion forward among you, I am sure having a set of wedding photographs that make you look like you have just stepped out of a professional magazine shoot will certainly appeal. Nigel works hard to put the couple at ease whilst actively encouraging couples to seek out unique photo opportunties that are "rare, exciting and different."
So, what do you think of the idea of sitting upside down in a classic vintage motor on your wedding day? Pretty neat, ey? I absolutely adore this wedding photograph and although I have not yet thought about arrival vehicles, the unusal setting and intimacy of knowing it is yours and your new husband's feet poking out make this a to-die-for picture. Ladies will love it, as we all know life is about shoes, and the classic car is surely every gentleman's dream. An absolute corker of a photo and definitely big inspiration for any vintage wedding.
Do visit Nigel Blacker's website to view more of his amazing work and get in contact with him if you are looking for a wedding photographer in the London and Kent area. Alternatively, I hope this post has inspired you for your own wedding day. It certainly has given me the confidence that whether rain, or shine, you can still get gorgeous, memorable wedding photographs to keep forever.
